Supported by the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre the Nuclear Institute's SMR 2018 conference offers the first opportunity of the year to meet, discuss and refresh your knowledge on the latest developments regarding future UK deployment of Small Modular Reactors, and keep yourself updated on the technical lifecycle challenges, stay engaged and informed of the Government view on the next steps for a Small Modular Reactor (SMR) programme in the UK.

The one-day conference will explore the next steps of the Government's SMR roadmap and outline the latest regulatory developments being made to facilitate the permitting and licencing approval of technologies.

Delegates will hear the latest insights from leading global technology vendors, each bringing insight of their technologies' distinctive technical and lifecycle benefits and exploring the future skills capabilities required.

The afternoon will cover technical innovation in manufacturing and construction and the opportunity to find out about the current technology advances that can set to transfer to address the known challenges of constructability programmes on most infrastructure projects.

Speakers will explore the ever-present question - What are the next skill demands? The programme will present research on the expertise skill demands predicted in research and fuel development to maintain and grow the subject matter expert capability in the UK.
