Saudi Arabia Market Analysis:

The power sector of Saudi Arabia is undergoing a drastic change, which is driven by the economic and population growth. Power demands in Saudi Arabia have soared to about 9 % and are looking at further rise. KSA understands that the hydro carbon resources are fast depleting and there is a need for strengthening the power sector to meet this deficit.
An estimated cost of $140 billion will go into this program over the next decade; this was announced by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Mohd. Al Shehri (Governor of Saudi Electricity and Cogeneration Regulatory Authority). About 63.7% of this corpus will be spent on power generation and the rest in distribution and transmission. The SEC (Saudi Electric Company) is expected to invest $ 80 Billion over the next 10 yrs to add 20000 MW of power generation capacity.The process of privatizing the sector is underway and the government will be able to complete this process by 2014.

It is important to note that The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has allocated and envisioned for building 6 new cities at an estimated investment of $ 500 billion , the mission is to create housing for 5 million people and provide for 1 million jobs. This project will increase the Power and transmission requirement of Saudi Arabia.

Among other key issues to be discussed, we would be throwing light on current power trends and the investment scenario towards the same utilizing recent trends in procuring and engineering to build efficient power plants. Benefits off operational and strategic flexibility leading to energy security in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
