About This Event

Overview: Warehouses are dangerous places - with lots going on in them and lots of opportunity for serious injury and for fatal accidents. However, warehouse safety need not be difficult and this seminar will help you to understand how to do it properly. As many different types of businesses have storage and warehouse facilities as an integral and important part of their operation, warehouse safety is an important issue.

These may be very busy places at all times (such as in a logistics operation) or they may be quiet for many hours a day, but have periods of intense activity. Warehouses can be dangerous places and people do get hurt in them in several ways. Many of the injuries suffered can be avoided by taking health and safety seriously and by taking some simple steps to ensure warehouse safety; all derived from simple risk assessments.

There are numerous opportunities for harm to workers in warehouse operations. Workers can be injured or killed by:

Moving vehicles (delivery vehicles and also site vehicles, such as lift trucks)
Overturning vehicles (especially lift trucks)
Falling stored goods (from racking)
Toppling pallets and loads
Manual handling operations
Slips trips and falls from poor housekeeping, poor lighting, adverse weather, poor terrain, etc
Exposure to hazardous substances
Exposure to adverse weather (too much UV exposure, or cold conditions)

Control of the hazards is possible. As with all areas of health and safety, risk assessment is an important part in protecting your workers and your business, as well as to complying with the relevant pieces of legislation. The risk assessment process helps you to focus on the risks that really matter in your business - the ones with the potential to cause harm. In many cases, simple and straightforward measures can be used to control risks. For many businesses this may mean simple, cheap and effective measures to ensure that their most valuable asset (the workforce) is protected. Sometimes, it is necessary to spend money, to train people, to create new procedures. It is good to understand the process and to be sure that your money is being used in the right places.

You should attend this Webinar if they want (or need) to understand not only how people can be harmed in the warehouse environment, but also how workers and others can be protected from harm by the appropriate management of the health and safety issues present.

This webinar aims to help you to understand the risks that your warehouse staff may be exposed to and (importantly) how to protect your workers, your business, your commercial reputation and your conscience.

This webinar will benefit organizations that want to take control of health and safety and want to protect their people from harm. The same approach can also protect the commercial reputation of the Company.

Why should you attend: Warehouse safety is important and warehouses (and similar storage and goods movement areas) are dangerous places. Workers can be injured or killed by the vehicles moving in these areas and by the goods being stored there. On top of this, there are opportunities for life changing injuries from manual handling and other typical warehouse operations.

As with all areas of health and safety, risk assessment is an important part in protecting your workers and your business, as well as complying with the law. The process helps you to focus on the risks that really matter in your business - the ones with the potential to cause harm. In many cases, simple and straightforward measures can be used to control risks.
