Conference Description:

For the XXVII ISAM Congress in Hamburg, Germany, the theme "Addiction Medicine – think globally, act locally" has been chosen. The congress aims to encourage addiction specialists from around the world to share their approaches and experiences. Discussing these diverse backgrounds can enrich perspectives on addiction in various cultural contexts.

The International Society of Addiction Medicine (ISAM) is an international fellowship of physicians founded in 1998, dedicated to the advancement of knowledge in Addiction Medicine. ISAM achieves this through the recognition of physicians worldwide who play a significant role in its management, by enhancing the credibility of the physician’s role, and by emphasizing the importance of educational activities.

The congress is organized by the Institute for Interdisciplinary Addiction and Drug Research (Institut für interdisziplinäre Sucht- und Drogenforschung, ISD). The cooperation partners for the XXVII ISAM Congress are the University of Hamburg and the Academic Teaching Hospital Itzehoe. Additionally, the XVII ISAM Congress will offer a wide range of social activities, fully taking advantage of Hamburg’s historical and cultural richness.
