Conference Description:

The scientific event is timed to coincide with major historical anniversaries: 300 years of St. Petersburg State University, 300 years of the Russian Academy of Sciences and 90 years of the organization of historical faculties in Leningrad/St. Petersburg and Moscow Universities. These significant anniversaries allow us to develop the theme of the role of scientists and thinkers in the history of mankind, encourage us to discuss forms, methods and tasks of historical education today, as well as oblige us once again to pay tribute to our teachers, outstanding Russian historians of the 20th century.

The program will be united by the theme "Man makes history". We propose to consider the role of personality in various aspects – from scientific biography, historical portraits of prominent people to mythological images of legendary heroes and antiheroes. As in previous forums, it is supposed to link the topics of the sections and round tables with historical anniversaries (an approximate list for 2024 is available online: https://historical-forum.spbu.ru/o-forum e-2024/2-uncategorised/9-spisok-yubileev -2024.html ).
