Conference Description:

You are invited to attend the 36th International Congress of Genealogical and Heraldic Sciences! Scholars, historians, and researchers of genealogy and heraldry will present original, unpublished papers relating to the theme of the 2024 Congress: “Origins, Journeys, Destinations.”

Heritage and identity have long been shaped by the journeys people take, and the study of genealogy and heraldry allows us to trace the preservation, destruction, and creation of all kinds of cultural identities. The aim of the 2024 Congress is to explore the significance of journeys and migration in defining our diverse genealogical and heraldic inheritances and identities, whether in Europe, the Americas, or around the world.

About the 36th International Congress of Genealogical and Heraldic Sciences
In 2024, the International Congress of Genealogical and Heraldic Sciences will take place on U.S. soil for the first time in its 93-year history. American Ancestors/New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS)—a national center for family history, heritage, and culture—and FamilySearch, the world’s largest genealogy organization, with the support of patron Brady Brim-DeForest of Balvaird Castle, Baron of Balvaird, have partnered to host the 36th Congress in the historic city of Boston, Massachusetts, surrounding NEHGS’s flagship location on Newbury Street from September 24 to 28, 2024. This biennial conference brings together scholars, historians, genealogists, heraldists, antiquarians, students, and enthusiasts from all around the world to explore compelling themes in genealogy, heraldry, and the intersection between the two.
