Creating Hope, Performing Possibilities
The world is alive with social experiments: experiments in survival, experiments in peace and reconciliation, experiments in mutual aid, experiments in community building, experiments in learning/teaching and development. People of the world, in many countries, living within many cultural continuums, working in many fields are refusing to give up. We’re trying all sorts of new activities to create a “way out of no way.”

Performing the World Happening(s) 2023 will bring together some of these social experimenters—with a focus on those involving play, performance and the arts—to share their experiences and to explore their ideas and emotions about transforming a world that seems hopelessly stuck in violence, inequality and alienation. Presenters will share their practices along with how — through building alternatives to the way things are done —people can and do create hope and perform new possibilities into existence.
