Conference Description:

Planned as a joint initiative of the units of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in ToruD: Jean Monnet European Studies Centre and Arabic Language and Culture Centre, as well as student organizations: Foreign Affairs Research Club and Arabic Students Club „Zahra as-Sahra” the international conference will focus on Arabic studies and political science perspectives on the research about the Islamic world. The Conference will address issues related to the historical, political, economic, cultural and social aspects of the academic interests about the Muslim world – from Marocco to South-East Asia, including Muslims in diaspora.

Noticing the need for developing an intercultural and interreligious dialogue, and being aware of a growing number of conferences and symposia that enable scientists to exchange views on issues related to the main problems of the modern world of Islam, the organizers of the Conference in ToruD decided to invite both respected researchers and young scholars to actively engage in discussions about the abovementioned problems.

Planning the 2nd International Conference on “The World of Islam in Research Perspectives of Arabic Studies and Political Science” is not only an attempt to initiate an academic debate, but also an opportunity to integrate the community of scholars dealing with the world of Islam.

Conference has an interdisciplinary character, all researchers representing different fields and disciplines are invited to participate in the initiative. We believe that only connecting two perspectives: Arabic Studies and Political Science allows to fully present the changes in the World of Islam, with its complexity and diversity. That is why we have designed our conference to be a platform for philosophers, historians, economists, political scientists, lawyers, as well as scholars working in a field of linguistics, literature, culture, religion, art, geography, security and international relations, to present their research on the World of Islam.
