Conference Description:

Special Session on Autonomous Unmanned Aerial Systems Serving Geospatial Applications - UAS4GIS 2019 (ins)

3 - 5 May, 2019 - Heraklion, Crete, Greece

Within the 5th International Conference on Geographical Information Systems Theory, Applications and Management - GISTAM 2019

SCOPE

Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS or "drones") have become increasingly popular in a variety of geospatial applications. The global market is overwhelmed with various UAS products, yet there are many unresolved research issues to fully unleash their potential. The research community should take action in establishing “smart” solutions to serve GIS and Remote Sensing through autonomous systems. Towards this end, this special session is devoted in UASs in terms of real time data integration in GIS and automated georeferencing, decision making through AI and deep learning, real time image processing, pattern recognition, added value in remote sensing applications, fleet management, 3D reconstruction optimization, autonomous navigation, horizontal and domain specific custom systems.

Topics:
- Automatic aerial mapping and visualization;
- Autonomous decision systems;
- Communication and security;
- Hardware optimization;
- On-board, real time image processing and pattern recognition;
- Optimization on flight and navigation attitude, Remote sensing applications with added-value;
- Sensor systems;
- 3D reconstruction optimization;

SCOPE

The International Conference on Geographical Information Systems Theory, Applications and Management aims at creating a meeting point of researchers and practitioners that address new challenges in geo-spatial data sensing, observation, representation, processing, visualization, sharing and managing, in all aspects concerning both information communication and technologies (ICT) as well as management information systems and knowledge-based systems. The conference welcomes original papers of either practical or theoretical nature, presenting research or applications, of specialized or interdisciplinary nature, addressing any aspect of geographic information systems and technologies.
