Conference Description:

The circadian clock underlies the regulation of numerous physiological processes, such as sleep-wake cycles, body temperature, blood pressure, hormone production or the immune system. In fact, the importance of research on circadian clocks was acknowledged by the 2017 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, which was awarded for "discoveries of molecular mechanisms controlling the circadian rhythm". Despite its broad impact across many systems, it is only recently that we are beginning to understand the molecular connections between this clock and the physiological processes that it affects.

This workshop will bring together leading scientists, who have made seminal contributions to the understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying circadian timing and pioneered the introduction of new technologies to the field of circadian research. We have invited speakers focusing on the molecular mechanisms underlying:

- The generation of the ~24 hour (circadian) period via gene regulatory, biochemical and metabolic circadian oscillations
- The connection of the circadian clock to other cellular and physiological functions
